Camp Is Parent Free

There is no more important person in a child’s life than a parent. And yet we must prepare them for life without us.

That’s what makes it developmentally crucial for children to have experiences without their parents as well.

Steve Baskin, Board Chair of the American Camp Association

We love parents, and there is nobody more important in your child’s life.

But as parents, we want to prepare our children to be spectacular in the world when they leave home.

A lighthouse is a perfect metaphor because we want our children to always know we will be there for them. But a lighthouse doesn’t follow ships out to sea. It waits patiently to guide them back.

Giving our children experiences without us shows them that we have confidence in their abilities and gives them a chance to flourish.

Camp helps us be lighthouse parents. You can be confident that your campers are well looked-after, but they feel like they are on a grand adventure away from home.

Your camp experience matters, too!

We want parents to have a great experience at camp as well.

There is a lot we do to create a great parent experience, from pre-camp communication to mid-session updates to hundreds of photos posted every day.

We even have a director whose primary responsibility is understanding and meeting the needs of our parents.
