Tonight is our final night, so I want to spend as much time with our camp community as possible. Please forgive this extra-short blog.

Frankly, it is not a blog at all.

It is simply a thank you.

Thank you for having faith in us.

Thank you for having faith in your kiddo(s).

These odd times stretch our sense of connection, dilute our feelings of community. But this summer, we became a community and we connected with each other. None of that happens without you.

I also want to thank the staff who chose to make camps the center of their lives this summer. Life at camp has always been immersive, but never more so than this year. People arrived and have never left. We have been scheduling times to recharge batteries of cars that have not started in 10+ weeks. It was not easy, but it was important.

Finally, I want to thank Susie Ma’am. When we met in Boston, she had little reason to think she would end up in central Texas running a summer camp. But she does so with love and grace. I often joke that I am a pretty good camp director, but I am the second best one that lives in our house.

We are sad to see our community end tomorrow, but I am comforted by knowing that our campers and counselors will be bringing the spirit of camp with them. I am sure that will make the world a slightly better place.
